The clear button may be stuck for several reasons so we can try a couple of things.
Firstly, try and give the open dial a full 180-degree rotation, anti-clockwise. This realigns the clutch mechanism inside and sometimes releases the clear button.
If it is still stuck, it may be trapped with brick dust or other elements. Applying some WD40 within and around the clear button to try and clear any debris that may be causing it to stick.
If this hasn’t worked, and there have been overnight freezing temperatures, it could be frozen with the mixture of the condensation and temperature drop. Try pouring tepid water over the top. This will unfreeze the clear button.
If any of the above doesn’t work, your unit may need replacing.
